Opportunity in Rwanda

Letter from Larry Schwab: Thank you for the prayers and encouragement for Tom and Sue Gooch and I as we took our trip to Kigali, Rwanda. We only had ten days to look at the hilly city and potential property and buildings for Christ's Church in Rwanda. God showed us some amazing places and one very special place in a growing part of Kigali that seems almost too good to be true. There is a new government constructed and unoccupied meeting hall/school at “Caise Sociale” that is waiting to be utilized for good in that community. The meeting hall can function perfectly as a worship center and community multi purpose facility. Our missionaries Dave and Jana Jenkins found this facility a week or so before we arrived. They wanted to see our reactions to the place to make sure they were not over reacting to the visions they were having. I hope to have many opportunities to share more about this facility with you. Just know that the Rwanda Christians, including many government officials are on their knees in prayer about this place and especially about the possibilities of hope and faith it could bring to the community. We ask you to pray along side them. Don't think that this is a long shot. God lives in high places and invites us there too.

One thing to ponder is how God may use us as the answer to other’s prayers. Last night I was teaching a graduate course on Ethics at the School of Finance and Banking. It’s a pretty intimidating crowd – Members of Parliament, Bankers, leading government officials, etc… John Nkuranga, my friend who is the Assistant Director of Protocol in the President’s Office is one of the students. John had shared with a friend, about our hopes for the Caise Sociale property. The friend came up to me during class break and told me that he has been praying for more than a year for a Christian group to take over the Caise Sociale property. He didn’t have any agenda other than wanting to see a presence of faith and community being there. He was giddy about it, and hoped his prayers would encourage us. - Dave Jenkins
