Christmas News

Have you ever wondered what it would be like if God walked among us? Where would he be born? Would he meet the world as a king or pauper? Would he celebrate our joys? Would he share our grief? Who would announce his birth? Would it be ordinary or would it be proclaimed by all the media outlets?
Christmas is the season in which we go back to those basic questions. It can be easy to see it just as a season of feasts, gifts, and a break from work; but it is something more. Church attendance usually booms during this season. Some is tradition, but I suspect our humanity for a few weeks can't dodge the questions and comes looking for answers.
This week we will look at one of the men who heard a message hundreds of years before the birth of Jesus. His name was Isaiah. He spoke of the birth of a child who would bring healing justice and counsel (Isaiah 9:1-7). Thousands of years later we still can not get enough. In fact, as we sit still and process the hurts of this world we can not stop searching for a counselor to heal with justice. All the men that try to fill this role fail. We need God himself in human flesh to meet this need.
I hope to see you this Sunday as we begin our Christmas journey.
Imana ikurinde,
Dave
P.S. This Saturday at 2:00 pm some of us will meet at the church building to begin decorating for Christmas and passing out Christmas invitations in our neighborhood. Your presence will be greatly appreciated.
P.S.S. Sue Gooch arrived safely in the U.S. this week. Her doctor found 9 fractures in her arm and hand and she successfully underwent surgery. Her hands are in splints. Thank you for your prayers and concern.
