Man of Action Speaks
Our journey through the stories Mark wrote about Jesus of Nazareth will take an interesting turn this week. Mark tells stories of Jesus being a Man of Action. He heals where ever he goes. The crowd can not get enough of him. We saw a few weeks ago where he asked for 12 men to give up everything and follow to be trained for a future appointment. It must have been thrilling to be around so much action. As this happens conflict increases. There was so much action and the words seemed so few it must have been puzzling for the potential proteges.
This week we will begin looking at 4 stories where Jesus stops the action and begins extensively speaking (Mark 4). It should catch our attention as we catch our breath. The words will seem like simple stories, but they'll be hard to put into an Action Plan. They seem rather ordinary. One is about soil. Another is about a lantern, and two more are about seeds. Yet the crowds are puzzled.
Fortunately, one of the men who was with Jesus when he stopped the action and started speaking was one of the 12 proteges. He asked some more questions, and we get the answers.
I hope to see you this Sunday as we ponder the simple stories about an inconceivable kingdom.
Imana ikurinde,
Dave
