Into Rwanda

Wednesday, March 15, 2006

The Lord has blessed us with the most amazing overseeing congregation. We can’t contain our joy for the events of the last week. Quail Springs has again gone far beyond our expectations. During the last week, the Rwandan Ambassador to the United States, Dr. Zach Nsenga, visited Oklahoma Christian University to prepare the way for Rwandan President Paul Kagame’s visit in April. During Ambassador Nsenga’s visit he spoke at the Quail Springs Church of Christ on Wednesday evening.

Following are some of the comments:

Bryan Hixson, “He was very impressive and had some very good words to share. When my daughter, Alexis was introduced to him last night he got down on his knee and hugged her. He really connected with her on Wednesday night and Thursday morning as he has three daughters ages 3-11.”

David McKenzie, “Last Wednesday I was able to go and listen to Zach Nsenga at Quail Springs, and the next morning our group was invited to a breakfast with him which went really well. I thought he had some really really cool things to say.”

Dawn Shelton, “It's such a huge deal, and so beautiful the way God is weaving this together to further affirm the Jenkins' work and Quail's part in it. What an incredible event we had at Quail. It was definitely standing room only as many of our members, college students and guest came to hear the Honorable Zach Nsenga tell us the story of Rwanda. One of the best parts was at the end when Mark Henderson gave the ambassador a new NIV Bible, and then to see our elders lay hands on him as they prayed for the future of Rwanda, God's plan to place Quail on part of that journey, and for the Jenkins as they minister there. I could go on ... a very cool night.”

As we saw the pictures and watched the video we all cried. We could not believe how the Lord is moving. We shared the photos and internet video with our two Rwandan small groups, and they were also ecstatic to see what the Lord is uniting.

Oklahoma News9 featured an interview with Ambassador Nsenga and Oklahoma Christian University President Dr. Mike O’Neil at: http://blogs.oc.edu/ee/index.php?/ocnews/news.

You can see some pictures of the evening on the Quail Site http://www.quailchurch.com.

Again we are so blessed by Quail Springs.

Dave and Jana

P.S. Thank you to all who made the events of last week happen.
